American Idol Season 12 Episode 29 so it will be interesting to see who sings a more contemporary number and who goes with one of the classics. We imagine someone like Angie will go the current route, whereas Amber might pick a Whitney Houston or Celine Dion song. Is that classic rock, “American Idol”? Well, turn it up! Yep, it was time to dust off the denim, leather and high heels for some good old-fashioned rock and roll- sort of. As with Beatles week, many of the contestants seemed a bit out of their wheelhouse, leading to some dubious choices and interpretations of the term “classic rock.” All told, though, on the whole, the gang fared better here than on Beatles week, so there’s that.
American Idol Season 12 Episode 29 First up was the most hilariously entertaining misstep, Burnell Taylor, with an amusingly misguided take on Bon Jovi’s “You Give Love a Bad Name.” It’s kind of hard to believe that this song, of all things, was the “only classic rock song” Burnell knew. I mean, I get that he’s not into the genre, that’s fine, but really? That’s the only one you know? Eeesh.

American Idol Season 12 Episode 29 Janelle Arthur was up second. She sang “Gone” by Scotty McCreery. Again an okay performance, but nothing worth raving about. Nicki and Randy both thought the song choice could have been better. Devin Velez followed Janelle with “Temporary Home” by Carrie Underwood. The judges were especially split on Devin’s performance. Keith Urban didn’t think it was one of his better performances due to wrong song choice, but Nicki Minaj was quick to disagree.
Angie Miller, a heavy favorite among the top 10 finalists, sang Kelly Clarkson’s “I Surrender.” Miller is the first performer of the night to get rave reviews from all the judges. As Randy put it, “the competition starts now!”

It’s down to the American Idol Season 12 Top 6 for Wednesday’s two-hour performance show, and here are the singers you will see perform two songs:
Only one theme was released in the official press release this week, and that’s “A Song I Wish I Had Written”.
American Idol Season 12 Episode 29 The second theme disappeared mysteriously from the FOX press release, but when asked what it was via Twitter, Candice confirmed it the rumors it would be “Songs From the Burt Bacharach/Hal David Songbook”. We initially cringed at this one, but a lot of these singers do their best with ballads, so we imagine some will have those moments Randy Jackson is always seeking. We made our choices for what they might sing this week: check ‘em out!
Vote for the Worst has been pushing hard for Lazaro this season. Between that, and let’s face it, some pity votes, we’ve had to see some nearly flawless singers like Burnell Taylor go while Laz has forgotten lyrics right and left and still survived the cuts. Will that finally end this week? Only time will tell. It’s the judges’ last week to use their save, so we imagine that will come into play.
